EC update on 45' container use from 2007
The European Commission have published a press release concerning the circulation of 45ft containers on EU roads. A 1996 Council Directive on road transport weights and dimensions contained a 10-year transition period for 45ft containers, which is due to expire in a few weeks. This release confirms that Member States can still allow 45ft containers to circulate on their roads as of the 1st January 2007, under certain conditions and subject to the requisite administrative procedures. more
