DHL backs prospects for the UK's container industry
George Inch has been appointed chief operating officer for the containers division of DHL Freight & Contract Logistics.

Inch has worked in the transport, distribution and logistics industry for more than 25 years in senior business development and operational roles with BRS, Exel, Tibbett & Britten, Unipart and latterly working with PD Ports.

With more than 1200 vehicles, DHL's container division operates the UK's largest fleet dedicated to container logistics and has operating sites at all of the UK's major container gateways. DHL also runs inter-modal services throughout the UK rail network with Freightliner.

Inch says: 'The container market is a key part of the global supply chain. As a market leader I am keen that we work with the industry to continue to develop the UK's inland container transport market.'

The managing director of DHL Freight & Contract Logistics, Steve Allen, said: 'We are very pleased that we have George on board. I am sure that he will integrate easily and quickly into the business and move DHL's container transport division forward.'
