Police say Leyland Daf 45s are favourite with crooks
Detective Sergeant Mark Hooper of the Metropolitan Police TruckPol unit says he's noticed a spike in thefts of Leyland Daf FA 45 series rigids, particularly the 130 and 150 models over the last few days.

'On 26 July an X-reg was stolen in Horley,  Surrey. The following day four more went missing; an N-reg in Birmingham, an M-reg skip wagon in Nottingham, an X-reg in Oxford and another N-reg from Southampton. The Southampton vehicle was recovered, burnt out, in Hurn, near Bournemouth Airport.  And then another X-reg was taken in  Coventry. All the trucks were stolen from within the registered keeper's yard or were parked outside', says Hooper. 'It may be that these trucks are being stolen to order. If you own one, take extra precautions', Hooper adds.
