3.2-litre Vito V6 packs a 213hp punch
Automatic Merc aimed at emergency services
Mercedes-Benz has added a new model to its Vito range, creating the most powerful production van on the UK market. Badged Vito 123, the model is powered by a 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine from the Mercedes M-Class 4x4 car range. The engine produces 231hp at 5600rpm and 254lb-ft of torque between 2500 and 4500rpm.
There is only one gearbox available, a five-speed Tiptronic automatic.
Mercedes-Benz quotes a combined fuel consumption figure of 22.6mpg for the Viano MPV fitted with a 218hp version of the engine.
The Viano shares the Vito's body shell.
Mercedes expects to sell around 100 Vito 123s a year, mostly as armed response units and for other emergency service uses.
The model will be sold as a van only with the full range of Vito wheelbases and roof heights. Equipment will include air conditioning and alloy wheels. Prices start from £19,260 (ex-VAT) for Compact models, £19,540 (ex-VAT) for long models and £19,930 (ex-VAT) for extra long models.
